Mary DeCasper, a truly gifted and talented teacher for more than 25 years, shared her love of reading with generations of students at Fort McCoy School in Ocala/Marion County, FL. Sadly, her family, friends and beloved students lost her in September 2017. In keeping her legacy alive, her family and friends have established a memorial fund to share her gift of reading with future generations of Ft. McCoy students.
This memorial fund enabled the creation of “Ms. DeCasper’s Reading Den” – a warm, cozy and inviting reading place for students stocked with special well-loved books to foster the students’ own love of reading just as Ms. DeCasper did. Our bookshelves in the “Den” are re-stocked annually with exciting new titles. Funds received allow for the purchase of additional books, each dedicated, so that each student may take home a book of their own given to them in Mary’s name.
Won’t you help us ensure students in Ft. McCoy receive the gift of literacy in Ms. DeCaspter’s memory? Consider a gift to this fund so that no child grows up in Ft. McCoy without a book of his or her own.
Gifts by check can be made payable to Community Foundation for Ocala/Marion County and dropped off or mailed to 324 SE 24th Street, Ocala, FL 34471. Make sure to write “Mary DeCasper Memorial Fund” on the Memo line.
