Community Foundation for Ocala/Marion County Receives $2,500 Grant from First Federal Foundation to Support Youth Philanthropy Program
Ocala, FL (February 3, 2026)– The Community Foundation for Ocala/Marion County has been awarded a $2,500 grant from the First Federal Foundation in support of the Adam Hanson Youth Philanthropy in Action (YPIA) program.
YPIA is an educational initiative hosted one day per week and facilitated by Community Foundation staff, with support from Nonprofit Business Council Steering Committee members and community volunteers. The program introduces middle school students to the history of philanthropy and the vital roles of nonprofits, businesses, and government in addressing community needs. Students explore their passions, collaborate in small groups, and develop case-for-support presentations for local charities, simulating the allocation of a $500 grant.
Most importantly, YPIA empowers young people to understand that even at a young age, they can make a meaningful difference in the causes that matter most to them.
“This support from the First Federal Foundation allows us to continue investing in the next generation of community leaders,” said Lauren Deiorio, CEO of the Community Foundation for Ocala/Marion County. “Through YPIA, students gain confidence, awareness, and a deeper understanding of how philanthropy can create positive change right here in Marion County.”
